During a trip to Alaska to visit my father, I was so impressed with the state's common
sense approach to tackling the high rate of child drownings. Donated
used life jackets hung from Kids Don't Float loaner boards at the head
of docks, where boaters could easily grab them and put them on their
kids. At the time I created this painting, 24 kids' lives had been saved due to wearing
donated life jackets from loaner boards. Kudos, Alaska!
This is a subject I just knew I was going to paint as soon as I saw it. My "Kids Don't Float" oil painting has been included in several prestigious shows (pictured below), including: the Annual Fall Juried Exhibition at the Wayne Art Center and the 153rd Annual Juried Exhibition of Small Oil Paintings at the Philadelphia Sketch Club.
