Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez, also known by her initials as AOC, is an American politician
serving as the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional
district. Taking office at age 29, Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman and
one of the first female members of the Democratic Socialists of America
ever to serve in the United States Congress. Since her swearing-in to Congress
in January of 2019, she has remained committed to serving working class people
over corporate interests, promoting a progressive agenda for social, racial,
economic, and environmental justice. She quickly gained widespread acclaim, as well as criticism, for her outspokenness on controversial issues.
