HIS WORLD
Augustus is the one everyone looks to when he walks in. He carries himself with the kind of authority that puts people at ease, the kind that's earned. I loved painting his mane, the way the warm golds and deep umbers catch the light differently with every brushstroke.
His polka dotted party hat sits right between his ears, and he wears it like it belongs there. It does.
He's part of my Party Animals series, a collection of animals wearing party hats, each one painted with a mix of humor and tenderness.
The background is a cool wash of slate blue and gray with warm earth tones grounding him beneath. Solid and sure, like Augustus himself.
