Caryl Andrea Oberman

Caryl Andrea Oberman [1951 - 2024], a Pennsylvania attorney since 1974, was always motivated by a passion for justice and a belief in the transformative power of education. Accordingly, right from the start of admission to the Pennsylvania bar, she concentrated her legal practice on the educational needs of persons with disabilities and their families. Since she established her private law firm in 1985 in the eastern Philadelphia suburbs, she enabled thousands of children with disabilities to receive the quality education to which they are entitled. No less important was the support Oberman provided to often stressed-out parents. She knew in detail the challenges parents faced in raising children with special needs. She listened. She honored them for facing those challenges every day. She shared her knowledge, empowering them to be powerful advocates on their own. In this way, she also eased parents’ tension and frustration as they navigated raising their children.
