Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres [1958 - ] is an American comedian, television host, actress, writer and producer. When she starred in the eponymous Ellen from 1994 to 1998, she became the first lead in sitcom history to openly acknowledge her homosexuality on air. She was the genial host of her syndicated TV talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, from 2003 to 2022. She is an advocate for LGBTQ rights and animal rights, creating the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Rwanda, through the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.
