Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson [1830 - 1886] was an American poet whose work is still widely read by people of all ages and interests. She lived most of her life in an almost cloistered existence in her wealthy family’s New England home. She kept her poems private, sharing only some in letters to friends. Thus, it was only after her death that those among her survivors recognized her genius and published her work posthumously.
