Orson the Octopus hosts a holiday party every year that no one can figure out. Lights go up in an afternoon. Two dozen kinds of cookies. Garland on every banister. Everything ready before a single guest arrives. Last December, a neighbor finally peeked through the window. Orson had one arm on the mixer, one stringing lights, one folding napkins, one piping frosting, and four more she lost track of. He just smiled and handed her a cookie.
I painted Orson with rich, flowing brushstrokes that capture his fluid movement and natural grace. The warm tones and subtle color variations bring out his calm competence.
