Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Ruth Bader Ginsburg [1993 – 2020] was an American lawyer and jurist who, in 1993, was the second female justice confirmed to the Supreme Court. Ginsburg was a pioneer for gender equality throughout her distinguished career. The nickname RBG (as popularized in the 2015 biography, Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg by Irin Carmin) made her far better known to the general public than other jurists, and more popular with those who agreed with her stinging dissents. Ginsburg took the fuss over the nickname in stride. ”It is beyond my wildest imagination that I would one day become ‘the Notorious RBG.’”
