Serena Williams

Serena Williams [1981 - ] is a Black American professional tennis player who revolutionized women’s tennis with her powerful style of play and who won more Grand Slam singles titles (23) than any other person (man or woman) during the “Open” era. Proving to have much more than tennis clout, Williams has established herself as a “brand,” with ventures in film, television, and fashion. Williams puts her earnings to good use. In 2014, she established the Serena Williams Foundation. It’s stated purpose is “to promote equity through education” and overcome barriers posed by “gender, race, disability or anything else that stands in the way of someone achieving their goals and living their best life.” In addition, she helped establish the Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education, to which she donates 10 percent of her earnings.
