Delivering my painting to The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg for the annual Art of the State exhibition was a day like no other. I felt like a little kid on her first day of school!
“Georgia O'Keeffe said, "I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty."
So that's what I did. My 60 x 48 inch acrylic on canvas sunflower painting, "Showstopper," was one of 103 works selected from 1,850 entries for Art of the State, the official statewide juried competition for Pennsylvania artists.
Delivery Day
My fabulously supportive tall husband helped deliver my painting to our state museum.
Here he is maneuvering the painting toward the museum's enormous freight elevator. I was a tad cautious after getting stuck in my studio building's freight elevator the week before, but I'm happy to report all went well.
We followed the path marked with Art of the State signs to the gallery. It felt splendidly yellow brick road-like.
A curator took delivery while wearing white gloves. This may have excited me more than anything! The white glove treatment!
The curator took our picture with my painting and made sure my wonderful husband was in it too. Do I look over-the-moon thrilled? Pinch me!
It was fun talking with the people who make the magic happen. Here's my beloved with the fabulous Exhibits Chief, Michele Ensminger. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
Even the elevator button marked "Art of the State Intake" made my heart sing!
